Incorporated in the heart of the Blue Blanket Valley in 1883, Hoven, South Dakota is conveniently located 14 miles south of U.S. Highway 12 and 13 miles north of U.S. Highway 212.  South Dakota Highway 47/20 runs through its Main Street.  That faith, family, and farm have always taken center stage in Hoven is obvious when one views St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the gigantic, twin-spire edifice that towers over the South Dakota prairie on Hoven's Main Street and the Hoven Equity grain elevator rising to equal heights on Hoven's north end.

Agricultural interests dominate the Hoven area.  Farms are diversified, with wheat, corn, soybeans and sunflowers being the main crops.  Abundant wildlife assures top-notch hunting.  Excellent fishing on the Missouri River's Lake Oahe is within easy driving distance.

To accommodate short-term guests, Hoven has motel rooms available in town and a bed and breakfast facility a short drive out.  It has camper hook-ups, a city park with playground equipment and an adjoining outdoor swimming pool, and a golf course.

A well stocked grocery store, a sizeable convenience store, and a restaurant/steak house offer several food choices.

Apartments to rent and houses to buy are available for those who might wish to stay longer.  For senior citizens, Hoven's Senior Center offers a well-rounded hot meal five times a week at noon.  Civic and religion-oriented organizations provide opportunity for young and old alike to pitch in and make Hoven a haven for a good life style.

Hoven K-12 students excel academically and in extra-curricular activities.  Medical facilities include Holy Infant Hospital and the Hoven Medical Clinic with a resident doctor.  Well-trained volunteers man state-of-the-art medical and fire emergency response systems.
